SEATTLE – KR is pleased to announce our initial offering by northwest wunderkind Ian Scot Price aka ‘Naturebot‘. Founding member of the infamous ‘Bonkers!’ nights and head honcho at Pleasure Boat Records,
Naturebot produces broad exuberant unclassifiable electronica, forging his signature sound with love, bent analog circuitry and homespun self-styled synthesizers.
KR003 will be available April 30th exclusively on Beatport.

We first met Naturebot at a ‘Bonkers!’ night in 2008 – it was a vivid, wild evening of braindance and techno. We loved the rebellious nature of the whole affair: defiantly in contrast to Seattle’s offering of tepid minimal tech house. The next year, Ian’s half finished nouveau techno/disco roller, ‘Speciality shop’ ended up on a friends iPod that we listened to every time we got in the car. After falling in love with ‘Specialty Shop‘ we knew we had to get Ian to finish the tune and Dietrich Schoenemann at Complete to master it, asap.

As it turned out Ian had been working on a handful of beautiful tunes that would round out the Specialty ShopEP perfectly.

Since then Naturebot seems to be on a roll, refining his own signature techno and house offinings finishing 2 more EPs for KR!

214′s releases are widely known for a skillful balance between sci-fi roller disco sounds, and dark Detroit-influenced minimal expeditions for the mind. The ‘Tulum EP’ delivers two unstoppable originals. The title track to this powerful EP ‘Tulum’, is an eerie orgy of synths a la “Chain Reaction” with a simple, but effective droning baseline garnished with an almost demented whispering vocal. This comes together beautifully to create an extremely dark and minimal vibe perfect for sunrises from the ancient temples of Tulum overlooking the Caribbean Sea .

214’s ‘The Hair of the Biscuit’ is another piece of programming brilliance; this time featuring a heavy dose of mind melting industrial outbursts, intense pounding rhythms that refuse to be ignored by any dance floor, and heavy traces of 214′s renowned electro background. Rounding out this release are two distinctive and creative takes on Roman’s originals. The first comes via NYC electro legend, Elliot Taub aka Dj Ulysses whose Scatalogics label released new material from Alexander Robotnik back in 2005 which involved Taub and his current partner of “Neruotic Drum Band”, John Selway. His remix of Tulum ventures further into the electro-dub abyss with an Italio-Disco flair that nearly reaches 8 minutes in length.

Christy Love & W.Jeremy Pelser aka House of Stank remix “Hair in the Biscuit’ and add a stronger tracky house flavor that puts a NYC stamp on the infamous Dirty-bird sound. Their illustrious take on Romans electro breakdown swings from Todd Terry / Pierre era of New Jack City, Wild Pitch Hip House of the late 80s early 90′s to the current squalky chirps coming from San Francisco in recent years.

This contribution adds a refreshing diversity to this already strong and versatile EP.

“Chris Roman toasts the Mayan coast with this title track of gently rolling bass, wafting synths, and sly whispering; techno b-side “Hair in the Biscuit” and remixes move things from the playa to the dance floor.”

We get excited every year to hear about who is playing Bloc weekend, usually planned in march. Bloc out-grew the previous year’s venue and has found a new home at London’s Pleasure Gardens, in the Royal Victoria Docks.

To most electronic music aficionados, Detroit native Kenny Larkin is a man who needs
no introduction. His impressive 20-year history of creating arguably some of the most
timeless, soulful techno ever created, is unquestionable. But, to the newer generation of
club-goers, who aren’t aware of his contributions, 2012 serves as the year to re-establish
his position as one of the most valuable forces in dance music today.

On his popularity, Larkin states:

“I’m more like the artist’s artist. I’ve had very successful electronic artists telling me constantly
how much I’ve influenced them, but, to the newer generations of club-goers, my name might not
be as well known. I like to say, I’m famous for not being famous!” -KL

As a producer, DJ and remixer, Kenny has mesmerized crowds and fans across the globe for the last twenty years with his music. Since 1990, Larkin has cemented his name in the pages of dance music history along with fellow Detroit Techno music mates, Derrick May, Carl Craig and Kevin Saunderson.

Kenny’s list of achievements and discography are groundbreaking to say the least. Highlights include his first full album, Azimuth (released 1994), which was deemed by Street Sound Magazine to be one of the top 20 techno CD’s of all time.

His second album, Keys, Strings and Tambourines, released under the mighty wings of Carl Craig’s label Planet E was considered by many including Resident Advisor to be one of the most important albums released that year (2008), featuring it in their top 20 essential albums list.
Larkin’s thunderous return to techno has not stopped since, with Kenny touring the globe more than ever as part of the 25 years of Detroit Techno celebrations and releasing new records on Planet E, being remixed by Claude Von Stroke and Ben Klock and collaborating with Shlomi Aber on his Be As One Imprint.

March 9th, 2012 will mark KR’s 5th year throwing our Knightriders’ MicroRave Parties.

You may recall a hot, sweaty, ruckus affair flashing back to 2007, our first ever ‘Knight Rider’ theme party deep in Pike Place market’s underground Alibi Room. Absolute madness with Jerry Abstract, Recess, M’chateau and Travis Baron. But let’s not forget the visuals by Pixel Flip topping it all off with a mash-up of clips from the original Knight Rider television show!

After 5 Years, 1 Record Label & 40+KRparties later (not counting our multiple weekly events) KR is supper pumped to present KR5: Knightriders’ 5 year anniversary party & KRlabel Launch w/ Kenny Larkin.
